UK2 Group appoints Adrian Chamberlain as Non-Executive Director
International provider of advanced hosting and cloud services, the UK2 Group, has announced the appointment of Adrian Chamberlain to its board as a Non-Executive Director.
Founded in 1998, the UK2 Group encompasses significant hosting businesses such as UK2.net, WestHost, midPhase, Virtual Internet and VPS.net. As a group, the business has sold over a million domain names, serves thousands of shared and dedicated hosting customers and operates several multi-million pound data centers in the UK and USA.
Chamberlain previously served as CEO of MessageLabs, the market leader in cloud-based security protection, from February 2006 until its acquisition by Symantec for £400m in November 2008 in one of the most successful trade sales of the year. Following this acquisition he was appointed Senior Vice President of Symantec Hosted Services and a member of the Symantec Operations Board.
The move to appoint Chamberlain follows recent investment in UK2 by LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group and the subsequent appointment of Phil Male, previously Chief Strategy Officer at Cable & Wireless Worldwide and Chief Operating Officer of Thus Group plc, to the position of Executive Chairman.
