The SAS‐70 Type II certification is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. An exception‐free SAS‐70 Type II Certification report is well‐known by organizations in the United States and Europe as a reliable indicator that a service provider has implemented an effective control environment. The report is also acknowledged as a critical component for companies due to the Sarbanes –Oxley Act of 2002.
Under Section 404 of Sarbanes‐Oxley Act (SOX), most companies require a SAS‐70 Type II certification report from their service providers to evaluate controls, data centers, security, backup and system availability.
