Savvis Expands Range of Cloud Infrastructure Solutions

Savvis, Inc., a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, today announced that its Savvis Symphony Open public cloud infrastructure service is now available to European clients through its UK data centre in Slough.

The expansion follows growing demand for Savvis’ cloud infrastructure and managed hosting offerings in Europe. Savvis Symphony Open is the second cloud solution available from Savvis’ 37,500 square foot data centre in Slough, which complements the broad portfolio of managed and virtualised hosting, private cloud and network services that Savvis currently offers to enterprises and the public sector.
This addition to Savvis’ cloud computing portfolio will assist organisations with driving cost efficiencies, data centre consolidation, scalability and flexibility through its multi-tenant cloud infrastructure platform, which has built-in availability and automated resource balancing. Clients can also benefit from enterprise-class security, Quality of Service (QoS) and service level agreements (SLAs).
Savvis Symphony Open provides organisations with additional control through self-service management and on-demand provisioning via Savvis’ client portal, which is the main customer interface for all of Savvis’ hosting and network services.
“While Savvis has seen growth in managed hosting services in Europe for many years, as enterprises have sought the benefits of managed services, we are now experiencing increasing demand for both private and public cloud infrastructure services,” said Brian Klingbeil, managing director EMEA for Savvis. “Through the Slough data centre, we can now offer customers the benefit of Savvis Symphony Open’s on-demand, dynamically scalable resources to control their IT costs and tailor their usage.”
Savvis UK already offers Savvis Symphony Dedicated, which allows enterprise customers to establish a dedicated cloud environment to provide baseline compute and storage resources for web applications, such as ecommerce. Later this spring, Savvis will launch the next generation of Savvis Symphony, which will be available from its Slough facility. Savvis Symphony VPDC will feature one of the industry’s first enterprise-class Virtual Private Data Centre (VPDC) with multi-tiered QoS capabilities.
Out of its IS0 27001 accredited UK data centres, Savvis serves many global enterprises and government departments, including Thomson Reuters, Discovery Communications and easyJet.
easyJet has been a long standing European client and has taken advantage of Savvis’ managed hosting, managed network, managed security and professional IT services. Andy Caddy, head of enterprise architecture at easyJet comments, “easyJet’s business is built around ensuring our cost base is well matched to demand. Savvis’ cloud computing services have allowed IT to become even more tightly aligned with the business and its natural fluctuations in a way that was not previously possible. We expect this flexibility will allow us to take advantage of a growing market over the coming year.”
Globally, Savvis operates a Tier 1 application transport network and 28 data centres with more than 1.4 million square feet of raised floor space designed to support enterprise IT operations. In addition, Savvis was positioned as a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Web Hosting and Cloud Infrastructure (on Demand), 2009, which can be accessed at http://www.savvis.net/magicquadrantleader
