SMEStorage Announce Linux Cloud Tools

SMEStorage announced that it has released the first GA version of its multi cloud tooling for Linux Platforms. The tools had previously been in beta and encompass a virtual cloud drive and a graphical desktop to cloud synchronisation tool.

The SMEStorage open cloud platform allows companies to mix and match different storage clouds and access them from a Cloud File System, making changing storage clouds as easy as changing file directories.

The Linux Cloud Drive Direct enables user desktop access for to all storage clouds they have mapped to their account and presents a single file system view of all files stored in their different clouds.

The Graphical synchronisation tooling enables users to keep specific directories in sync with their Cloud Files and also features an additional clone feature to entirely replicate a directory from Cloud to Desktop or vice-versa.

The Cloud Tools are available for Debian, CentOS, OpenSUSE, and Fedora Linux distributions.

SMEStorage CEO Ian Osborne stated: “It may sound odd to think of a cloud based service on your desktop, but we are trying to blur the lines between the web and work environments. Our mobility tools for Android, iOS, and BlackBerry are part of this strategy.”

“As our Linux tooling becomes more mature we expect to add into it the full collaboration and file sharing capabilities that our personal cloud and business customers already use,” said Osborne. “You can think of our solution as ’cloud of Clouds’ or us as a cloud data broker in which we provide sophisticates access and additional services to the underlying data silos. These data silos are becoming more of an issue for individuals and organisations and we are seeing huge growth in the ability to cohesively access and manage this data.”

Zenith Announces MirrorCloud

Zenith Infotech, a technology innovation company specializing in cloud and business-continuity solutions, today launches MirrorCloud, a revolutionary business continuity solution offering exceptional scalability, fault tolerance and redundancy to the European Channel. MirrorCloud is a key component in the “SmartStyle Computing” platform aimed at helping Small and Medium Enterprises benefit from Cloud Computing technologies.

MirrorCloud is delivered as a turnkey solution deployed without complex integration using a high availability server appliance with built-in configuration wizards, backup, monitoring and support services. The solution offers advanced data mirroring to provide a local standby server that takes over in the event of an application server failure. The solution has optional backup capability using any IP network to a MirrorCloud secure datacenter. This off-site backup allows clients to maintain application access and data recovery in the event of a more serious site failure.

MirrorCloud is built on the modular and scalable SmartStyle Computing platform that allows customers to add storage and CPU capacity when needed. From a single MirrorCloud node, Zenith Infotech Partners can scale any site to a full SmartStyle Private Cloud by adding additional nodes to simultaneously support a client’s business continuity requirements and multiple production servers.

The openness of the platform to offer an essential continuity solution and also run any virtual servers and desktops in a true production environment provides a unique integration option for legacy infrastructure and a smooth migration path into cloud computing.

“MirrorCloud is an important element of our SmartStyle Platform as it addresses the problem of reliable and cost effective business continuity – one of the main issues facing SME’s” explains Jorre Belpaire, Channel Director for Zenith Infotech Europe, “It is also a fundamental building block as once servers and data are backed up and secure, the activation of other advantageous services built around server virtualisation, thin clients, storage and infrastructure-as-a-service is a relatively easy task for our partners.”

MirrorCloud will be sold exclusively through a network of over 600 Zenith Infotech channel partners across Europe. Each installation is supported 24/7 via a dedicated network operation centre which includes proactive monitoring, troubleshooting and recovery services. MirrorCloud supports all Microsoft Windows desktops and servers with additional features including Continuous data mirroring, Failover virtualization, Live bare metal restore and Granular exchange recovery.
