Google Buys Wind Energy Power for Oklahoma Data Center

Google has brought 20 Years worth of wind energy to power it’s Oklahoma Data Center.

The purchase is similar in size and structure to the agreement Google signed last July for wind energy in Iowa, but this time Google will be applying the power to it’s Mayes County, Okla. data center, which will be fully operational later this year.

Google agreed to purchase all of the energy from NextEra Energy Resources Minco II wind facility in Oklahoma for the next 20 years, through Google Energy LLC, an entity that enables us to participate in the wholesale energy market.

This 100.8 megawatt facility will be built as a direct result of Google’s financial commitment and should be operational in late 2011.

ValueReseller Announces Private Label Cloud Hosting Reseller Plans

ValueReseller, a leading wholesale managed hosting provider, announced the launch of its “reseller cloud” this week. The ValueReseller Cloud gives web hosts, hosting resellers, and web developers the ability to offer their clients VMware-based cloud hosting with a 100% infrastructure uptime SLA. ValueReseller’s Private Label Cloud Hosting platform supports both Linux and Windows operating systems and is unique in the industry.

The new plans offered include a “Pay As You Go” model at just $9.95 per month. This allows resellers to add their own cloud hosted sites “on-demand” and pay only for the actual resources used (control panel, space and bandwidth). This plan is offered to allow resellers a low-cost entry point into the profitable world of Cloud Hosting. It also makes it easy for resellers to migrate accounts to an Enterprise-class VMware hosting platform and get away from the performance and security issues that are rampant in traditional shared hosting environments.

At the other end of the spectrum, ValueReseller offers a unique “All You Can Eat” plan, featuring “unlimited everything” (including unlimited space and data transfer). This plan is popular with small web hosting companies, as well as VAR’s and SaaS providers who offer hosting as an add-on to other services.

According to ValueReseller’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Tom Mulkern, “Hosting websites on the ValueReseller Cloud allows resellers to guarantee their client’s maximum uptime through our highly available virtualized environment. Resellers can automatically charge their clients for resources and create unlimited domains on our cloud platform through an easy to use control panel. In addition, the system features full hosting automation, so resellers can automate everything from customer signup to billing to adding additional resources and services.”

“But the real beauty of our platform,” adds Mulkern, “is that it’s both 100% cloud and 100% managed so resellers never have to worry about the hardware behind the scenes and whether or not it will fail and cause downtime. 100% fully managed cloud hosting is the ideal platform for hosting resellers because it really allows you to focus your attention more on growing your business, not the intricacies and technical challenges of web hosting.”

In addition to cloud hosting, ValueReseller has also leveraged their platform and experienced technical team to provide resellers with the opportunity to make more money by offering additional cloud-centric services, such as: online backup and disaster recovery, E-Commerce, and Managed Hosting solutions for PCI DSS, HIPAA, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
