Cloud enablement leader, Parallels, today announced at TMForum in Nice that Telekom Austria’s subsidiary mobilkom austria has launched Parallels Automation including Linux Shared Hosting, Windows Shared Hosting, business-class email hosting and mobility services.
This helps mobilkom austria to combat falling margins in the mobile sector, deliver new cloud-based managed hosting services to small to medium-sized businesses and increase its revenue. Parallels Automation is a cloud services delivery system that allows mobilkom austria to maintain an IT backbone that serves both mobilkom austria and Telekom Austria without any additional staff.
“We needed full Windows and Linux compatibility and a product that was scalable with our business,” said Michael Wetzlmaier, Product Manager for Web Hosting Products, Telekom Austria. “Parallels Automation was the perfect solution for our business and provided a seamless and custom integration into our existing OSS/BSS systems.”
mobilkom austria was facing increased competition and shrinking margins and realized the best way to respond was to evolve its business model from a pure mobile carrier to a company that delivers small business-focused IT services offered from the cloud. Parallels Automation provides the speed and flexibility mobilkom austria needs to profit from these new markets.
“It is great to see Parallels Automation helping a partner offer profitable cloud services to its customers,” said Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels. “mobilkom austria’s work to widen its technology portfolio is an excellent example of a business managing an intelligent and strategic expansion.”
Another reason mobilkom austria selected Parallels Automation is the integration of the Application Packaging Standard (APS) that Parallels adheres to, which enables mobilkom austria to rapidly launch new cloud services as they become available from third-party ISVs.
“We designed an API for our business class email service and Parallels developed the management side of the system to make the integration of the service into the control panel possible,” said Michael Wetzlmaier, Product Manager for Web Hosting Products, Telekom Austria. “This is one reason we decided on Parallels Automation as we knew we were going to be able to integrate our own preferred systems which are used internally and by our external customers.”
Parallels Automation automates the full lifecycle of integrated operations and business system automation for service providers — from service management and provisioning to customer self-service and datacenter management. It decreases the time spent on repetitive administration tasks and system maintenance allowing business to focus on growth and profits.
“The long-term plan is to integrate Parallels Automation further into Telekom Austria’s business and for mobilkom austria to leverage it for business growth in new telco divisions that it establishes outside of Austria,” said Wetzlmaier.
