Disaster Recovery Service at Ultraspeed

3PAR®, the leading global provider of utility storage, announced today that leading UK managed hosting provider and 3PAR Cloud-Agile partner Ultraspeed has deployed the 3PAR InServ® F-Class Storage Server in its new carbon-neutral datacenter in Amsterdam. This new remote datacenter is a global Internet interconnection hub that uses leading-edge technologies and runs solely on renewable energy. Ultraspeed also stated plans to introduce new disaster recovery services as part of its 3PAR Cloud-Agile: ASSURED offerings, which leverage 3PAR Utility Storage and 3PAR Remote Copy for flexible, robust cloud-based disaster recovery.

“The efficiency and cost advantages of our 3PAR infrastructure have helped us maintain a competitive edge by becoming the only European managed hosting provider to offer off-country replication as a standard element of our Diskless hosting service,” said Jordan Gross, CEO at Ultraspeed. “We chose 3PAR again because it was the only storage platform with the backup and disaster recovery capabilities we needed to expand our disaster recovery services.”

Ultraspeed now replicates data from the 3PAR InServ at its primary London datacenter to InServ arrays deployed at its Amsterdam datacenter. In addition to weekly off-country backups performed at no additional cost, clients have the option to purchase daily off-country backups for all or select virtual machines (VMs) hosted by Ultraspeed. Ultraspeed is planning to launch additional disaster recovery-as-a-service offerings based on its 3PAR Utility Storage infrastructure — including the ability to bring up servers in Amsterdam within 45 minutes of a disaster resulting in a total site outage at its primary London datacenter.

Ultraspeed is renowned for its highly virtualized Diskless Infrastructure®, which is based on the managed service provider’s Diskless platform. The Diskless platform is specifically designed to enable customers to deploy multiple virtual servers on each physical server and is a compilation of horizontal best-of-breed architectures, including 3PAR Utility Storage. This Diskless platform provides end users with the ability to deploy and manage their diskless servers, connecting to a highly virtualized and centralized 3PAR InServ Storage Server in real time, without the limitations experienced with physical disks.

“Ultraspeed delivers enterprise-class hosted storage solutions to mid-sized organizations exceedingly well,” said David Scott, President and CEO of 3PAR. “3PAR has long been the ‘go-to’ provider for public cloud deployments. The agility and cost efficiency that 3PAR has brought to Ultraspeed’s Diskless platform is an excellent example of how a best-of-breed approach to storage has enabled service providers of all types and sizes to deploy an enterprise-class infrastructure that meets customer needs flexibly and responsively at a much lower cost than is generally associated with legacy storage.”
