Bluewolf (www.bluewolf.com) today announced a new suite of offerings on Amazon Web Services LLC (AWS) focused on helping enterprise customers realize the benefits of cloud computing. This new offering, calledCloud Transformation Solutions, delivers a complete range of Database-as-a-Service consulting and infrastructure management services from Bluewolf — a leading global cloud computing consulting firm. Bluewolf’s Cloud Transformation Solutions for AWS include: helping enterprise customers plan and migrate their solutions to the cloud; managing their IT environments in the cloud withremote database administration; and custom agile development consulting services.
“Amazon Web Services has been aligning IT departments with the IT needs of the 21st century, rather than burdening them with high up-front CapEx investments,” said Michael Kirven, co-founder of Bluewolf. “Our leadership in launching SaaS and cloud computing solutions for more than 3,000 enterprises, and our deep expertise inremote database administration, uniquely positions Bluewolf to support enterprise customers in their transition to AWS.”
“We are excited to be working with Bluewolf on their new Cloud Transformation Solution to bring value added consulting services to our mutual customers,” said Terry Wise, Director Business Development, Amazon Web Services. “This new solution will enable more enterprises to leverage the elasticity, security, reliability and pay-as-you-go approach that AWS provides.”
Earlier this year, Gumiyo, a leading provider of “m-Commerce” mobile marketing solutions, engaged Bluewolf to deliver advanced management for its virtualized infrastructure on the AWS cloud computing infrastructure. Gumiyo outsources the management of its cloud-based LAMP stack to Bluewolf. Additionally, Bluewolf provides System Administration and 24×7 monitoring and support for Gumiyo’s MySQL environment.
Gumiyo turned to AWS, specifically Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), in 2007 to meet the scalability and performance requirements of their web-hosted applications. Gumiyo sought to further offload the daily monitoring of its systems and supplement their in-house technical expertise by outsourcing to a managed service provider with cloud experience.
“By partnering with Bluewolf, with its extensive managed services and cloud computing experience, we can offload the monitoring and management of these systems completely and focus on driving business,” said Jef Rice, Vice President of Operations and Development for Gumiyo.
The Next Wave: Database-as-a-Service
DaaS is a rapidly growing IT trend that brings the inherent benefits of cloud computing — scalability, elasticity, cost savings and rapid time to market — to database management. DaaS consists of a database instance hosted by a service provider such as AWS, managed off-site by a 24×7 management solution like Bluewolf, and accessed by users and applications remotely. Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) is a web service from AWS that makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. It provides cost-efficient and resizable capacity while managing time-consuming database administration tasks, freeing you up to focus on your applications and business.
