AT&T* today announced its position as a leader in Gartner’s Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Web Hosting Magic Quadrant.(1)
The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud IaaS and Web Hosting is a representation of the marketplace during a specific time period. It depicts Gartner’s analysis of how certain vendors measure against criteria for that marketplace, as defined by Gartner. This Magic Quadrant assessed the “completeness of vision” and “ability to execute” of 20 cloud infrastructure and web hosting providers.
“I’m pleased to see Gartner recognize AT&T as a leader in complex managed hosting, application hosting, and cloud infrastructure services. We believe our skills in engineering and operations are key contributors to AT&T’s placement in the Leaders quadrant,” said Steve Caniano, Vice President of Hosting and Cloud Services, AT&T Business Solutions.
As cloud computing and web hosting have evolved during the past several years, AT&T has refocused its strategy to develop and expand upon these emerging services. AT&T believes that Gartner’s evaluation captures AT&T’s success in growing its cloud portfolio, while also highlighting its long track record of leadership in hosting, ranging from complex managed hosting for large-scale deals to many types of self-managed and lightly managed solutions.
“We feel Gartner’s positioning of AT&T as a Leader in this MQ is a market confirmation of AT&T’s investment and commitment to our cloud strategy,” said John Potter, Vice President of As a Service Solutions, AT&T Business Solutions. “By combining our mobility solutions with our global IP backbone, we have a clear advantage in the cloud and our clients reap the benefits. And we’re continuing to invest in the technology, customer support, and expertise that we need to provide the best possible experience in on-demand infrastructure – as well as services in the cloud.”
AT&T offers a variety of cloud-based solutions to its business customers, including Web Hosting, storage as a service, compute as a service, Application Management and content delivery. AT&T’s strategy is to deliver network, computing and application services to any device (fixed or mobile), and to transform the way those services are used by customers – whether they’re tracking inventory, recording patients’ vital signs or participating in multimedia conferences across the globe.
