Internap Announces New Los Angeles Data Center for Colocation Web Hosting

Internap has announced they will add a new data center facility in Los Angeles to meet the growing demand for premium colocation Web hosting.

The IT infrastructure provider said the new facility will be situated in South Bay, six miles from the Los Angeles International Airport and will provide 55,000 square feet of premium net sellable data center space. Approximately 15,000 square feet will be available by the second quarter of 2012. This will be Internap’s 11th “company-controlled” facility and Los Angeles is the company’s eighth market in North America.

Internap’s senior vice president of data center services, Mike Higgins outlines the market opportunity: “Explosive growth in demand from the city’s media and entertainment, aerospace, technology, petroleum and finance industries has outstripped limited data center supply. With the addition of Los Angeles to our portfolio, Internap is able to provide these growing enterprises with data center space that can be tailored to their specific IT Infrastructure needs – from colocation, managed (Web) hosting and cloud services to high-performance enterprise IP and Content Delivery Network services – and can quickly scale to support their business growth requirements.”

Internap (www.internap.com) remains fully committed to providing green hosting and data center services and will submit the new facility for Green Globes certification, LA County Green Building Standards compliance, LEED certification and an Energy Star rating.
