New Green Initiatives at Codero Hosting

In celebration of Arbor Day and Earth Days in April, Codero a dedicated hosting and cloud computing provider, is inviting its associates, their families and customers in the Kansas City area where the company is headquartered, to participate in EarthWalk on April 16, 2011. The three-mile walk is a fundraiser for Bridging the Gap, an organization connecting business leaders, government agencies and citizens on environmental issues

In addition, Codero recently initiated two endeavors to further reduce its environmental footprint. Donations of furniture and office furnishings are being made to the Salvation Army in Phoenix, Arizona where the hosting company’s data center is located. In addition, Codero is working with tenants in its Phoenix office area to bring in recycling container bins to start a cardboard recycling program.

Codero continues to recycle used servers by putting more energy-conscious power supplies in place for all of its servers. In addition, power supplies in the Phoenix data center have been updated with the purchase of only 80PLUS certified power supplies to reduce energy consumption by 25-30%.

Currently the company also participates in a Plant-a-Tree program which it began on Arbor Day, 2010. Customers are invited to participate in the campaign to help with reforestation. Those using dedicated, managed or cloud hosting plans may donate $1, $5, $10, $15, or $20 dollars through their online orders. Codero uses a forestry organization to plant the tree in a customer’s honor.

For the last two years, Codero has taken an industry-leading position to instill a company-wide green culture. The company uses 100% green power through the purchase of 100% certified green renewable energy sources to power all severs in the data center and headquarters. A green server bundle is yet another step Codero continues to take to help reduce the buildup of green house gases currently causing climate change.
