Rackspace Hosts OpenStack Design Summit & Conference

Rackspace announced it will host the fifth OpenStack Design Summit & Conference on April 16 to 20 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco.

The event gathers OpenStack contributors, cloud industry leaders, end users and others from around the globe to share stories, discuss the future of cloud computing and plan future software releases for the OpenStack open source cloud. OpenStack’s development community has seen more than 100,000 downloads, boasts 150 participating companies and has seen tremendous interest as an open standard to manage compute, storage and networking resources across data centers.

Organized by Rackspace, headline sponsors include HP, Nebula and Ubuntu supported by Canonical. Premier Sponsors include Cisco, Dell and Intel; Event Sponsors include DreamHost, ITRI, Morph Labs, NetApp, Nexenta, Opscode, NTT Data and Yahoo!; and Startup Sponsors include Ceph, Cloudscaling, ElasticBox, Mirantis, Nicira, StackOps, SwiftStack and SolidFire.

The OpenStack Design Summit, April 16 to April 18, will bring together developers from the word over to plan the sixth OpenStack software release, slated for Fall 2012. Following the Design Summit, the OpenStack Conference will begin. The two-day conference, April 19 and April 20, congregates OpenStack users, members of the commercial ecosystem and contributors in the technical community.

• Panels discussing community strategy and vision, technical debates, cloud standards and investing in the OpenStack community

• Hands-on workshops, networking, social events and more.

Though the Design Summit is now sold out, the conference portion of OpenStack Design Summit & Conference is open to all attendees interested in cloud computing and open source.
