ServerPronto is providing its support to the CentOS community-based enterprise operating system, by donating free dedicated Web hosting.
Chris Kurzweg, CEO of ServerPronto, said the team is behind the open source project and would like to help drive improvements to the popular OS.
“ServerPronto is a longtime supporter of CentOS, offering the operating system to our server customers for the past seven years — and CentOS is one of the most popular open source distros we offer,” Kurzweg adds.
CentOS, as most Linux fans are aware, is a free enterprise-class Linux distribution developed by a small but growing team of core developers, who in turn receive support by an active user community worldwide.
The core CentOS infrastructure is made up of donated hardware, either hosted at the donor’s own facility or through another colocation Web hosting provider or data center.
ServerPronto is providing CentOS with high-security facility resources, redundant network infrastructure, dedicated technical support and unlimited bandwidth each month via a 1Gbps uplink or better. CentOS is now able to use ServerPronto servers for its own infrastructure to run tests, develop code, backup data and provide website hosting.
