Go Daddy, the world’s largest Web host provider and number one domain name registrar headquartered in Scottsdale, matched all online donations during the live telethon to give a total donation of $100,000 to help Arizona’s sheltered animals. Go Daddy’s generosity helped push this year’s Arizona Humane Society (AHS) telethon total to more than $316,600.
Go Daddy has been part of the annual telethon for five consecutive years, stepping up as the title sponsor the past two. The Internet giant also worked again this year to keep the AHS website up and running, and provided employee volunteers to answer the phones.
“Our employees are all about making a difference,” said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “Go Daddy is proud to be in a position to help those less fortunate, and we think our contribution will go a long way to help thousands of animals for years to come.”
Bob and Renee Parsons’ dogs, Max and Chief, have also played a role in the telethon over the last several years, delivering the ‘big check’ on live television for the telethon’s big finish. This year, the Parsons’ border terriers were on vacation, appearing instead in a picture postcard during the broadcast. Max and Chief sported leis, keeping with tradition practiced at their tropical retreat.
“We continue to be amazed with Go Daddy’s level of support and sharing in our mission of helping every pet get the good life they deserve,” said Guy Collison, executive director of the Arizona Humane Society. “Go Daddy has played a vital role in the telethon year after year, keeping the website running smoothly, providing volunteers during the event and giving a huge donation of one hundred thousand dollars this year!”
Thousands of sick, injured and homeless animals across Arizona will have their lives saved or improved with the money raised through the telethon. The annual charity event not only generates much needed money for these animals, but also provides low-cost spay and neuter services, as well as educational programs, including how to better care for pets, fight animal cruelty and adopt a pet.
Go Daddy’s philanthropic works support a wide variety of charitable and community organizations dedicated to such causes as domestic violence, child abuse, disabled children, teenage homelessness, Parkinson’s research, breast cancer and more. Go Daddy donated $2.5 million to charitable causes last year and has already surpassed that amount in the first half of 2010.
