Voxel today announced it will expand its Asian hosting capacity.
Voxel has acquired an 1,800-square foot private datacenter suite from global telecommunications provider KDDI, located near Singapore’s Changi Airport. The additional space significantly expands Voxel’s Singapore presence and will serve as a hub for a new dark fiber ring to connect its existing data center location at Equinix (SG1), the KDDI facility, and other major carrier hotels including Global Switch and Keppel Digihub facilities. The ring will be lit with 80x10G waves of capacity, provide fully diverse paths and allow for non-disruptive future capacity upgrades.

Voxel’s expansion at the KDDI data center follows growth in other global facilities, including New York, Amsterdam, San Jose, and its original Singapore site. Voxel leverages an ultra-efficient pod design that allows for high-availability, quick turn up time and unified product features between global markets. The facility will be activated early in the fourth quarter of 2011.
